The regional division of IQ Glass based in the Midlands are currently working on this stunning West Yorkshire new build home. The countryside home uses a mix of fixed and opening glazing systems to combine modern glazing and traditional architecture.
Nestled in the West Yorkshire countryside, it was important for the expansive home to maximise the surrounding views. For this reason, slim framed glazing systems and frameless structural glass elevations were the perfect choices for this bespoke glazing package. As well as uninterrupted views of the surrounding environment, the home is flooded with natural light across all three floors.
The main building uses an Oak Timber laminated Glulam for the main framework, achieving a beautiful exposed beam design that is enhanced further by the oversized glazing. Gable end glazing is used on one elevation, utilising frameless structural glazing for the most minimal design in conjunction with slim framed sliding door systems that grant access to the private balcony areas. Frameless rooflights have been designed to sit within the pitched roof structure, introducing tonnes of natural light into the top floor living spaces.
Inside the Yorkshire new build home, walk on structural glass floorlights will be installed above the indoor swimming pool to allow the light and views to flow freely down through the basement level. The walk on floorlights have been specified with a dot matrix to create an anti-slip surface, whilst maintaining the effect of the frameless glazing. A MARS sliding rooflight system will be used to enhance the ventilation within the property, offering a completely weathertight solution for the modern roof glazing.
The West Yorkshire countryside can be seen from all angles of the home, thanks to the mix of slim framed casement windows and frameless windows used throughout the architecture. The slim framed casement windows from the Sieger range create a coherent design when used in conjunction with the slim sliding door systems, contrasting the exposed wooden beams and dark brick.
The bespoke glazing package for this Yorkshire new build has been sensitively designed to enhance the natural properties of this home, combining modern performance values and minimal designs. By specifying minimal glazing systems, the architects benefit from all the performance of modern glazing whilst the innovative building design remains the primary design feature.
