The minimal windows slim sliding glass doors from IQ Glass are one of our most popular architectural glazing products. The slim 21mm framing creates impressive glass elevations with minimal interruptions to views inside or out. The flush threshold also helps encourage the merging of internal and external spaces, which is a popular design consideration for modern living spaces.

The striking aesthetics highly glazed façade can create a frameless feel to the architectural glazing, removing the division of inside and out on multiple floors.

The most common type of housing built in London last year was flats and apartments, therefore getting the most out of any balcony space available is the main priority in residential development design. IQ’s slim frame sliding glass doors enable seamless connections between any internal and external living spaces, including balconies and roof terraces. Additionally, where balconies can’t be used, frameless glass balustrades can be integrated with the minimally framed doors in order to maintain a cohesive and minimal design whilst creating large openings.

The thermally broken aluminium frames of the sliding glass doors conform to the highest specification of architectural glazing exceeding the efficiency targets that modern renovations require. The watertight tightness testing and results of these slim sliding door systems also mean that they can be used as part of the façade of the building, for an even sleeker external architectural design.

A recent multi-unit residential project was completed by IQ Glass in London, illustrating a contemporary architectural glazing design using slim frame sliding glass doors as a façade design. Buckingham Gate was transformed from a traditional office block into nine private luxury apartments and a penthouse suite in the heart of Westminster.

IQ Glass installed all of the glazing elements to this contemporary modern design and our slim framed sliding glass doors were the key design feature to the rear elevation of the redevelopment. The large slim frame sliding glass door façade creates bright open-plan living spaces maximising the appeal of these residential spaces and offering each apartment with exceptional views of St James Park, Green Park and Buckingham Palace.

The upper floor penthouse includes a large roof terrace which is accessed via IQ’s Aluminium Bi Fold Doors with adjacent structural glass windows for exceptional levels of natural light.

On the sliding glass façade, to maintain a cohesive window design, our minimal windows sliding glass doors were used for the window opening with an integrated structural glass balustrade to create a minimal Juliet Balcony.

As the development delves into basement living spaces IQ helped create an impressive lightwell to feed natural light into the basement apartments by mixing frameless structural glass and our minimal windows sliding doors to create a multi-level frameless glass façade.
