The most common type of housing built in London last year was flats and apartments, therefore getting the most out of any balcony space available is the main priority in residential development design. Buckingham Gate was transformed from a traditional office block into nine private luxury apartments and a penthouse suite in the heart of Westminster.

IQ Glass installed all of the glazing elements to this contemporary modern design and our slim framed sliding glass doors were the key design feature to the rear elevation of the redevelopment. The large slim frame sliding glass door façade creates bright open-plan living spaces maximising the appeal of these residential spaces and offering each apartment with exceptional views of St James Park, Green Park and Buckingham Palace.

The upper floor penthouse includes a large roof terrace which is accessed via IQ’s Aluminium Bi Fold Doors with adjacent structural glass windows for exceptional levels of natural light.

On the sliding glass façade, to maintain a cohesive window design, our minimal windows sliding glass doors were used for the window opening with an integrated structural glass balustrade to create a minimal Juliet Balcony.

As the development delves into basement living spaces IQ helped create an impressive lightwell to feed natural light into the basement apartments by mixing frameless structural glass and our minimal windows sliding doors to create a multi-level frameless glass façade.
