IQ Glass featured in the article 'a touch of glass' in the Oct 2018 edition of Self Build & Design. This article showcased Gibson Road, a residential project that IQ Glass completed the glazing for. For this project, three steel-framed pivot doors were installed to the basement level to provide access into the sunken courtyard.
Steel framed external doors can be designed with exceptionally thin frames due to the strength of the material, which helps to increase the amount of natural light within the basement rooms of this property. The steel frames Mondrian doors were installed to serve as patio doors which led out into the outdoor living space.
The article, a touch of glass, displayed an array of projects which helped to increase the amount of light within the building. "Research shows that sun exposure eases stress, lowers blood pressure and enhances the immune system", therefore maximising the amount of natural light within a building is highly beneficial for the homeowner or occupant's health and wellbeing. Utilising glass within buildings is the best way to achieve this as it is both structurally supportive whilst allowing light to flood through into the internal spaces and create an open plan living environment.
