Company History

IQ Glass has evolved over more than two decades into the UK’s leading specialist in architectural glazing, with a reputation built on technical innovation, design‑led solutions, and close collaboration with architects and contractors.

The company began in 2004, providing structural glazing solutions primarily to commercial buildings across the UK. As demand grew, additional specialist divisions were formed to support different glazing needs.

As our portfolio expanded to include large, technically complex glazing packages, IQ Glass and its group companies moved to an expanded site in Amersham, now home to the UK’s largest architectural glazing showroom.

By 2018, IQ Glass had grown, placing it among the UK’s fastest‑growing businesses and earning recognition from the London Stock Exchange Group as one of “1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain.”

Today, IQ Glass operates as a national, employee‑owned organisation with regional offices across the UK. It leads the market in bespoke structural glazing, slim sliding door systems, and technical glass solutions, serving architects, developers, and homeowners on design‑driven residential and commercial projects.

Our Team of Expert Glaziers

IQ employees over 100 people across the UK, providing a strong and reliable infrastructure behind our glazing subcontracts. Our teams across the UK provide technical support from technical sales to design and project management and a dedicated ‘after sales’ team to support buildings throughout their lifetime.  These services are led and directed by an expert and experienced team. IQ Glass became an employee owned company in 2024, expertly led by our board of directors who are directly involved in the running and management of the whole company. Showroom

The IQ Glass design studio boasts 40,000 sq ft across two floors. The purpose designed building was created by the team at IQ to showcase what is possible from architectural glazing; creating inspirational installations that broaden the design possibilities. Visitors come to our showroom from far and wide to attend our technical seminars, see the latest glazing innovations, or simply colour match frames and iron mongery for a cohesive finish.

How Our Service Works

1. Initial Enquiry & Concept Support

Your journey begins with our technical sales team, who work with architects, designers or homeowners to understand the project vision, performance requirements and site constraints. Early involvement helps ensure glazing is integrated correctly from the start.

2. Project Consultation & Specification

We provide tailored technical recommendations, including:
• suitable glazing systems
• performance considerations (thermal, acoustic, solar control)
• buildability and detailing guidance
• draft NBS specifications
This ensures your glazing package is fully aligned with the architectural concept.

3. Design Phase

Once appointed, our in‑house CAD design team prepares detailed drawings showing:
• all glass interfaces and fixing details
• structural requirements
• drainage and threshold detailing
• integration with surrounding materials
A site survey is carried out to confirm measurements and installation access.

4. Procurement & Manufacture

When drawings are approved, your dedicated Contracts Manager schedules production. IQ uses a combination of:
• UK‑engineered glazing systems
• Premium European glass known for clarity and quality
Each unit is manufactured to order.

5. Installation

Installation is carried out by specialist IQ installers experienced in complex structural glazing.
They coordinate with the main contractor to ensure:
• safe access
• correct sequencing
• precision fitting
• quality control
