Contemporary Extension to Traditional Home

This contemporary extension has been added onto a traditional home in Berkshire. IQ Glass installed minimal frame glass sliding doors onto the extension with glass balustrades on the rooftop terrace.

These glass sliding doors have an open corner for uninterrupted views of the garden and to help create a larger indoor outdoor living space. Having these glass sliding doors installed onto the extension has provided a great amount of natural light into the home and provides an ideal amount of ventilation, especially in the summer months.

These doors have been powder coated grey to create a contrast between the frames and white interior and exterior of the home. This also adds to the contemporary aesthetic.

Glass balustrades have been installed onto the rooftop terrace to provide safety for anyone using the terrace. Using low iron glass for these glass balustrades also means that there is no obstruction to view from the windows on the top floor or light obstruction.

These balustrades have also been installed on the stairway down to the basement. This provides added safety to the area, making sure no one can fall over the edge and get hurt.

A structural glass roof was also installed to maximise the natural light intake into the extension. A ceramic frit pattern has been incorporated to provide an anti-slip resistant surface, perfect for in the wetter months when they may become a safety hazard for the family.

These rooflights, in particular, have a black back painted section which isn’t visible if you were to view these rooflights from underneath, creating a frameless rooflight. Another structural glass roof was installed on the patio, above the basement. This glass roof is also frameless and has rooftop black.
