A balcony louvre roof provides a contemporary solution to solar shading for this home, creating an indoor-outdoor living experience for the home owners. The louvre roof is cantilevered from the building providing additional coverage to the outside space.
The simplistic contemporary design of the aluminium canopy enables a more useable outdoor seating area with an architectural design finish to the property.
The balcony louvre roof has an integrated drainage system enabling the rain water collected by the aluminium louvres draining through to the gargoyle, which is slightly extended, making sure the rain water flows over the balcony, onto the more permeable ground below.
The aluminium canopy provides solar shading which was an occurring problem in the summer months with the large elevations of glass. With the cantilevered louvre roof the Umbris helps to shade the internal living spaces and preventing the inside rooms to overheat. Additionally, the louvre roof provides a space which can be used all year, the aluminium louvres can be closed to provide a watertight roof.
This Umbris patio roof has been powder coated in a RAL 9016 Matt colour to keep a cohesive design with the rest of the property. The balcony area already had outside lighting integrated, therefore lighting within the louvre roof wasn’t necessary.
