Light Filled Extension using Glass Balustrades

IQ Glass provided architectural glazing to this contemporary house extension in Childs Hill, London. The focus of the architectural design was to maximise natural light coming into the home with large glass faces and minimal framing.

The project achieved reductions in shadowing, no obstruction in sight and a minimal contemporary finish using frameless structural glass balustrades on the balcony. These glass balustrades allow maximum light enter the property through the minimal sliding doors lightening up the room with colour, with uninterrupted wonderful views of the Wembley Arch whilst maintaining safety.

Internally frameless glass balustrades were used to line the contemporary staircase design and to the mezzanine floor. The frameless nature of the glass design provided a minimal, aesthetically neat glass barrier. Low iron glass was used,  eliminating any greening effect and maximising natural light coming through providing a clear, colourful pathway.

Our glass balustrades are designed bespoke for each project to ensure the most frameless finish possible. Glass specifications, fixings and supporting systems are all chosen for each project requirement.
