Villa Wald

Private villa in Switzerland with oversized triple glazed sliding glass doors

This private residential villa in Geneva, Switzerland has a picturesque garden and is surrounded by woods. The clean concrete architecture is complimented by 4m high minimally framed glazing.

Winters in Switzerland can drop to temperatures below 0°C and any glazing needs to be performing to the highest levels. The panoramah! ah!60 system has unmatched thermal performance, making it an ideal choice for colder climates.

Although the winters can reach extremely low temperatures, the summer months can see temperatures of up to 30°C. When the warmer weather arrives this slim sliding door system can be pushed back for high levels of ventilation and airflow. The flush threshold of this system allows the interior and exterior spaces to be merged, displaying elements of biophilic design.

The thermally broken aluminium frames were finished with a polyester powder coating in white to match the bright and minimal interior design and exterior building finishes.

Location

Geneva, Switzerland

Breathtaking woodlands surround this property and a huge advantage of using the panoramah! ah!60 sliding door system is that the sightline is ultra slim, measuring in at just 20mm. This ensure that the views out of the property are not obstructed. The wraparound glazing for this property means panoramic views are offered from almost every room in the house.

As the property is surrounded by trees, this may stop sunlight from reaching the property. By designing the glazing to reach heights of 4m, ensures that all natural light that reaches the private villa flows into the internal living spaces.

Many aspects of this property contribute to increasing the perceived internal size. Oversized glazing allows an abundance of natural light, the bright interior wall finishes and furnishings reflects this light and brightens the room.

By using white as the main colour throughout the home and on the exterior of the building, the overall result is a luxury and contemporary property. The lack of colour and clutter embodies everything that is peaceful and calm.
