Glazed Extension with Slim Framed Sliding Doors

This eye-catching contemporary glass extension was added to a family home in Putney using IQ’s slim frame sliding glass doors, enhancing the internal living environment of the property creating a large open plan living area. The glazed extension was planned as a living and seating area to the rear of the house and connecting the small garden with the living space.

The minimally framed sliding glass doors were used to the rear of the extension providing access to the garden in a neat, nearly frameless sliding door. With a flush base track and head detail, the seamless transition between both inside and outside living areas is idyllic. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors with 21mm sightlines allow the sliding glass doors to provide uninterrupted views of the garden.

The surrounding glazed walls were constructed from frameless structural glass panels were used with no visible framework enabling the living space to be flooded with natural light. The structural glass creates a clean design to this contemporary architectural design.

The solid roof to the highly glazed extension stops the feeling of sitting in a glass box and creates an effective insulator and shading instrument.  On the external faces, insulated aluminium pressings have been used to create a neat facia, the façade materials are powder coated in a dark grey RAL colour for a contemporary design finish.
