Modern glazed extension in Worcester

A three storey Grade II Listed terrace property in Worcester underwent significant transformation merging old with new. A modern glazed extension sympathetically designed by Herlig Architecture boasts an elegant lattice design glass roof bringing in abundant natural light.

Our Midlands team was commissioned to deliver a complex bespoke lattice glass roof as part of a modern glazed extension using Invisio structural glass. 

The new internal space within the modern glazed extension measures 45 sqm, of which the lattice design glass roof in this Worcester home spans just over 7m wide to the end of the extension in a total of five silicone jointed panels with structural steel sections between panels. The frameless effect structural glass is toughened with PVB interlayers and has a 5.8 degree pitch for efficient water run-off assuring that the longevity of this modern glazed extension is maintained.

Modern glazed extension in Worcester with slim sliding glass doors and Petersen bricks.

The steel frames on the lattice glass roof are finished to Black Grey RAL Colour 702 in keeping with the Petersen grey brickwork. 

No lifting equipment was used for the installation of the entire lattice glass roof, and everything had to be manually lifted to the side of the Worcester property with a space of just 900mm wide.

A configuration of three opening slim sliding glass doors is installed to the rear of this modern glazed extension offering ventilative cooling to the new family living space.  

Sieger casement doors are installed either side open to the steps leading down to the mature garden.  The opening casement doors sits within a further glazed casement window which match the height of the casement windows at 2.74m tall. 

Three identical fixed casement slot windows are installed to the left of the modern glazed extension 40cm wide with each tall pane of glass weighing 17kg.   

All sliding doors, casement doors and fixed slot windows are finished to RAL 7021 matching the modern bold lattice glass roof to this Worcester House.  

The result is a modern space where growing family can all sit around a table and enjoy the connection to the garden.
