The Bevel Extension

A Luxury extension to a London terrace property

London terrace homes are often quite dark, especially Victorian and Georgian terraces with lower ground floors. These homeowners often seek ways in which they can increase the natural daylight within all the rooms to create a contemporary interior design.

The homeowners at The Bevel Extension extended their home out into their rear garden slightly which utilised large expanses of glass to draw the light in. The large Vitra Pivot window installed to the rear of the home plays a huge part in creating an influx of natural light due to the impressive 2.5m x 2.5m size and exceptionally slim frames.

The Vitra Pivot has a completely flush base track which provides the homeowners with a seamless transition between their new extension and their outdoor living space at the back of the property.

Opposite the Vitra Pivot, the architects designed for two large aluminium framed windows to be installed which drew more light into the property from a recess in the side of the home. These modern windows help to reduce the divide between the indoor and outdoor living spaces as the framing is so minimalistic it provides the illusion that the space is completely open.

This unique glazing design compliments the contemporary interior, styled with a combination of dark and light furnishings to contrast the airy and light-filled space. When the Vitra Pivot is open it leads the occupants out into a rear courtyard, with steps leading up into a raised garden where the homeowners can enjoy the outdoors during the Summer months.
