Regency House

Frameless Arched Pivot Doors for a Bespoke Garden Entertainment Pavilion

Regency House is a newly built Georgian style mansion located on the former grounds of White Stubbs Farm in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. The estate, created by LW Developments, sits within 28 acres of manicured countryside and includes more than 12,000 square feet of living space arranged across four floors. IQ Glass was appointed to design and deliver the specialist glazing for the garden entertainment structure, transforming an area of former brick outbuildings into a bright, sheltered entertainment space. This included the introduction of frameless arched pivot doors, creating a refined focal point within the red brick elevation and elevating the atmosphere of the garden room.

Revitalising an Historic Outbuilding

Before the redevelopment, White Stubbs Farm comprised a farmhouse and a cluster of equestrian and commercial barns within Hertfordshire’s Greenbelt. While the new mansion replaced the farmhouse, the remaining external structures offered an opportunity to create a garden room that would act as a social hub for the estate. The challenge lay in converting a series of partially enclosed masonry partitions into a usable, weather sheltered space while retaining the charm of the original red brickwork.

The brief demanded maximum visual transparency and a modern aesthetic that would sit comfortably beside the formal Georgian architecture of the new residence. The glazing needed to operate as a flexible perimeter, opening fully during warm months while offering shelter without heavy framing during colder seasons. The architectural team required glazing that could respect the materiality of the original walls, frame panoramic garden views and support large social gatherings. The structural design also needed to accommodate irregular arched openings within the brickwork.

Creating a Fully Glazed Garden Wall

To open the entertainment space to the surrounding gardens, IQ Glass installed a single glazed bifolding glass wall spanning 14.4 metres in width and 2.7 metres in height. The system uses a slim aluminium head and base rail to maintain visual lightness, creating a near frameless appearance when closed. By folding entirely to one side, the glazing removes the boundary between indoor and outdoor areas and transforms the pavilion into an open sided structure during summer gatherings. This flexible arrangement supports large social events and enables guests to move seamlessly between the bar area and the gardens.

The single glazing was chosen specifically to avoid the need for vertical weather sealing, which allowed the elevation to remain visually uninterrupted. Retained areas of exposed brick complement the transparency of the glazing, creating a dialogue between the historic fabric and the new contemporary detailing.

Bespoke Frameless Arched Pivot Doors

The most distinctive architectural feature of the garden room is the pair of frameless arched pivot doors designed and installed within the existing brick arches. These doors were custom shaped to follow the exact curve of the brickwork and were mounted using stainless steel patch fittings to achieve a minimal aesthetic. Their frameless quality reduces visual weight and preserves the character of the original opening while introducing a refined modern element.

Each door set operates as a double pivoting arrangement, providing wide access and a strong architectural gesture when open. When closed, the doors align fully within the arch, creating a seamless glass surface that amplifies natural light within the garden room. Their precision and clarity demonstrate how bespoke glazing can bridge historic forms with modern performance requirements.

A New Build House in the Greenbelt

Regency House is among the most exclusive estates in Broxbourne, with private grounds that include formal gardens, outbuildings and long views across the surrounding landscape. As a new build Georgian mansion set within a former farmstead, the development carries notable design ambition. The garden pavilion, enhanced by IQ Glass’s bespoke glazing, forms an integral component of this ambition, offering a high quality entertainment space that complements the scale of the main house.

The glazing installations were designed primarily for sheltered outdoor use rather than full thermal insulation. This allowed the design to remain visually minimal while contributing to the overall architectural quality of the wider estate. Such bespoke, frameless glazing often enhances property value by delivering a lifestyle focused amenity that resonates strongly with UHNW buyers seeking generous social spaces and seamless garden integration.
