Luxury Coastal Glazing in Salcombe

Located on Cliff Road in Salcombe, this five-storey private residence underwent a complete glazing refit as part of a comprehensive renovation led by Harrison Sutton Partnership. The design brief centred on creating uninterrupted views of the dramatic Devon coastline while ensuring the glazing systems were suitable for the harsh coastal environment.

A carefully selected range of architectural glazing solutions was installed throughout the home, including slim sliding doors, invisio frameless windows, and casement doors. Finished in elegant bronze anodised tones, the glazing complements the property's coastal architecture while providing outstanding durability and corrosion resistance.

Minimal Sliding Doors Framing Sea Views

Large expanses of glazing were incorporated across multiple levels of the home to take full advantage of the elevated waterfront setting. Slim sliding doors create seamless connections between the interior and exterior spaces, opening living areas onto terraces overlooking the coastline.

With ultra-slim sightlines and expansive glass panels, the bespoke sliding door systems maximise natural light while minimising visible framing. This allows residents to enjoy uninterrupted views across the sea throughout the year.

The specification included both two-track and three-track sliding door systems, carefully integrated into the architecture to create a clean, contemporary finish.

High-Performance Glazing for Coastal Conditions

Coastal homes demand exceptional glazing performance, particularly in exposed locations where high winds, salt-laden air and intense sunlight can affect both comfort and longevity. For this project, high-specification low-iron glazing with solar control glass was used throughout the property to help regulate internal temperatures whilst maintaining crystal-clear views.

The glazing specification incorporated Guardian solar control glass with heat-soaked toughened panes, providing increased durability and enhanced resistance against the challenging coastal environment. The systems were also designed to accommodate significant wind loads, ensuring long-term performance across all five floors of the property.

Bespoke Casement Windows

A variety of window systems were specified across this coastal home, including slim casement windows, fixed glazing panels and high-performance HD casement windows. These systems provide excellent thermal performance while maintaining slender sightlines that complement the contemporary coastal aesthetic.

Concealed hinges and integrated handles create a refined appearance, while the bronze anodised finish offers a durable surface well-suited to coastal applications. Several bespoke glazing elements were also incorporated, including circular aluminium-framed windows that add architectural interest throughout the property.

Invisio structural glazing was utilised to deliver frameless glass elements that enhance the feeling of openness within the property. The use of structural glazing allows the architecture to remain visually light while maximising daylight penetration and preserving uninterrupted sightlines towards the surrounding landscape.
