Flush Glazed Windows and Frameless Extension

This small traditional cottage home was given an update and extension using specialist architectural glazing from IQ. The front of the building was extended, bringing the front line of the house in line with the porch boundary.

structural glass box extension was added to the front of the property, connecting the side entrance of the porch to further living spaces and creating a bright sun trap which is used as a reading room.

The glass extension was created using frameless structural glass on two sides with a corresponding glass roof, supported with a low iron glass beam.

All integrated steelworks were expertly hidden and covered using the stepped edges of the structural glass which were then back painted to hide the structure.

On the opposite side of the extension, Innovare flush glazed windows were chosen as the window solution for the open plan living area inside.

Both the structural glass extension and the frameless windows were finished with a light grey back paint to complement the light grey tones of the quaint cottage building.

Aluminium pressings in a similar light grey tone were added to the base of the extension to cover building structure and finalise the modern design of the glass extension.

Though small additions to a small home the use of architectural glazing here brought light into the building where it mattered and created two new living environments. The kerb appearance of the home has been improved with all glazing designed to be sympathetic to the existing architecture.
