Artisan Steel Doors to a London Basement Renovation

IQ Glass was involved in the renovation of this basement space and exterior courtyard in London.

The renovated basement gains natural light thanks to a sunken courtyard within the rear garden. Here IQ Glass provided a range of architectural glazing solutions to enhance the artisan and luxury design of the home.

Our Mondrian® External door system was used as the rear patio door for the basement space.

As well as bringing in light into the basement the thermally broken steel doors also provide access to the small sunken courtyard.

By using the Mondrian® External system in a Galvanised Steel frame the project exudes a feeling of luxury that wouldn’t be achieved using an aluminium framed solution.

For the small opening, a pivoting door configuration was chosen which allowed for the maximum area of the aperture to be opened at any one time. This open doorway then connects the underground living spaces to the outside and allows a natural flow of air.

Outside in the courtyard IQ designed a range of structural glass installations to further the influx of natural light into the basement.

These bespoke, frameless glass installations include a full installation of frameless structural glass balustrades and a walk on floor light with an anti-slip ceramic frit pattern.

The entire glazing package was expertly curated and designed by the team at IQ in consultation with the client and their design requirements. The resulting basement renovation is full of natural light with a high end, luxury finish.
