Renovation and Double Height Extension to comedian's home

A double-height rear extension was added to this complete house renovation in central London. The house belonged to a noted British comedian and actor and was to receive a brand new contemporary redesign.

To the double-height, rear extension IQ Glass used our minimally framed sliding glass doors on both floors, to the upper ground floor living area and lower ground floor games room. On the upper floor, a frameless glass balustrade was integrated into part of the sliding opening for a part Juliette balcony maintaining the frameless and minimal appearance of the sliding door system.

The frameless glass balustrading then carries on down the side of the timber stairs to the rear garden and courtyard.

Throughout the renovation, glass balustrades were used to create a neat clean appearance to the central stairwell and allow free light transfer between the floors levels of the home from the large frameless glass rooflight at the roof.

One feature of the project was a full height glass screen on an upper floor separating the staircase from living space. Here IQ’s Mondrian® Internal system was perfect to create the loft style industrial look wanted for the design.

Elsewhere frameless glass doors and partitions were used to aid light moving through the home as well as strategic placement of the internal glass floors.
