The homeowners sought to achieve additional useable space with simple connection to the garden. Key to the brief was a living space, offering much natural light and comfort.
IQ was commissioned to supply and install a bespoke glass extension to the rear elevation of Edinburgh City House with ultra slim sliding glass doors offering seamless transitions to the patio and garden. The super slim sliding glass doors were installed in an open corner configuration to achieve the widest aperture possible.
The kitchen dining space connects to the new living room via ‘up and over’ Invisio structural glass 1300mm wide and 3340mm high adjoining the modern zinc roof.
Witton Fell stone forms part of the facade between the fixed 'up and over glass' and the fixed panel of the two pane ultra slim sliding glass doors. The second set of sliders are installed in an open corner configuration to the rear of the Edinburgh glass extension meets the central chimney of the woodburner, also clad in Witton Fell.
