Large Glass Elevations & Sliding Glass Doors on New Build Family Home in Newcastle

A contemporary new build in Newcastle features large elevations of frameless glass and slim framed sliding glass doors wrapping around the property. The contemporary architectural glass design is finished with a dark timber cladding providing privacy to the home, adding shading and texture to the largely glass structure.

The slim framed sliding glass doors from IQ Glass are well suited to this contemporary design, providing both the ground and upper floor with plenty of natural light, enabled by the large format openings and minimal framing.

The flush threshold tracks are used throughout the property to provide easy access out onto the upper floor balconies and allowing the ground floor to open up seamlessly into the garden. The minimal 21mm sightlines and flush floor finishes compliment the contemporary new build perfectly.

Large Vitra pivot doors at either end of the property were installed to mirror the minimal framing design of the minimal windows sliding glass doors.

Maintaining the slim frame design of these sliding glass doors creates a cohesive architectural glass design and gives additional access to the garden.

 

Throughout the property, numerous fixed frameless structural elements were used to increase natural light taking advantage of the views and continue the minimally framed architectural glass design.

These elements included frameless glass balustrades, fixed structural units and double height structural glazing integrated seamlessly with thin-framed aluminium opening elements.

One great example of this seamless architectural glass design from IQ is the aluminium casement door integrated within a wall of frameless structural glass creating a sheltered snug to the back of the house.

The interesting architectural design creates a bright, light filled family home, with impressive open-plan living spaces and views all the way around the property through the large elevations of floor-to-ceiling glass and double height internal voids.
