Old Mill Renovation Using Frameless Structural Glazing

A large renovation project in Buckinghamshire features many different bespoke glazing elements, including structural glass, in order to extend and refurbish an old mill building. 

IQ’s frameless structural glazing and minimally framed sliding doors help to create a seamless link between the old and new.

The architectural glazing design on this renovation project contrasts effectively with the traditional features of the old mill building creating bright and inviting living spaces whilst maintaining the design integrity of the traditional building.

The contemporary design features a two-storey glass link with double height frameless structural glazing on both sides, linking the existing house and old mill building together.

The structural glass is supported with glass fins for a minimal frameless design finish, providing a large elevation of glass for the glass link, taking advantage of the surrounding views. 

 

The contemporary design for the extension to the mill incorporates IQ’s minimally framed sliding glass doors.

The slim 21mm framing of these sliding glass doors takes advantage of the surrounding views with minimal visual interruption, drawing in even more natural light into the open plan living spaces as well as providing key access to the outside patio area.

The glass balconies and frameless glass balustrades on both sides of the property ensure these idyllic views are unspoilt.

The projecting Oriel Window is a main design aspect to the master bedroom allowing the room to fill with natural daylight from many angles throughout the day.

The aluminium framing of the slim frame sliding glass doors was finished with a light grey powder coat, contrasting effectively with the timber cladded walls and pale brick colour providing it with a contemporary design finish.
