Architects, Holland Green was commissioned to convert the once redundant side alley into a luxurious kitchen space with a glass side infill (or glass side return) levelling the garden lawn with slim framed glazed kitchen doors that slide open to the patio with flush thresholds, vastly increasing the footprint of liveable space.

Key to this glass side infill extension brief was to maximise the amount of natural light into the space throughout the day with seamless transitions to the patio and garden with flush thresholds and slim framed sliding glazed kitchen doors.
The glass side infill comprises of an oversized frameless effect glass roof which extends beyond 7m in length and has a width of 2.48m achieving constant daylight to enter the space, especially within the deepest part of the property.
Three track sliding glazed kitchen doors were installed to open the rear elevation offering a pleasant aspect to the outdoors.
The three track glazed kitchen doors with slim sightlines of 21mm slide open boasting a seamless flush threshold blurring the boundaries between the inside and outside. Additional clever design detail enhanced this seamless connection to the outdoors such as the raised lawn with patio tiles matching the kitchen tiles.
The structural glass roof to the side return extension is positioned perfectly at an angle and orientation which reduces solar gain and glare.
The result is a modern lightfilled kitchen extension finished to the highest specification throughout. The oversized glass roof, slim sightlines of the glazed kitchen doors, and flush thresholds linking direct to the garden add to the luxe of the entire project.
This light filled space enhances the sense of comfort and amplifies the feeling of space allowing its occupants, extended family and friends to share and enjoy.
