Slim framed sliding doors in a 4 track configuration create entire walls of moving glass on one elevation of the contemporary glazed pool side extension, stacking behind one another to reveal a large open space that helps merge indoor and outdoor areas when the doors are open.
The aluminium framed doors sit within a timber clad exterior design, using vertical timber panels above and next to the glass doors. A slim framed casement door acts as a traffic door beside the oversized sliding doors, offering another solution when travelling between spaces. Slim framed bifolding doors from the Sieger Lux range can be found on the other side of the building, again stretching floor to ceiling to maximise the light and views.
The bifold door stacks neatly to one side, revealing a completely open aperture that is perfect for enjoying the outdoor pool. Each door system was complete with a flush threshold to make the transition from inside to out even more seamless, breaking down the barriers to follow an indoor-outdoor style of living.
Where the sliders meet the bifolds IQ designed a bespoke pressing detail for a seamless design, powder coating the pressing in the same colour as the glass doors to contrast the warm timber tones.
The slim aluminium profiles allow the interior design to be flooded with natural light throughout the day, benefitting from clear night views when the sun goes down. The highly glazed pool side extension blends into its beautiful surroundings, following the same minimal look as the swimming pool design. Using traditional timber elements inside and outside the extension added depth, allowing the oak to be one of the primary building materials and adding a rustic edge.
The homeowners can now enjoy their outdoor area without having to travel inside the main house, as well as use the new space to enjoy the surrounding views. Each glazing system uses fully thermally broken aluminium framing profiles to ensure the internal living temperature is comfortable and the extension is suitable for year-round use. Timber naturally wears well and the oak will gradually darken as it ages over time, lasting hundreds of years.
