Steel Look Aluminium Doors

Aluminium has many benefits over steel as a framing material, including being a more lightweight material and having natural rust and corrosion resistant properties making it lower maintenance and more durable in harsh air environments.

Although many people still favour steel framed glazing for the elegant or industrial style designs created by the slim profiles and glazing bars. Whilst in some cases steel is much more suited than an aluminium alternative, there are many cases where the aluminium alternative would enhance the project.

This is why IQ have developed a range of steel look aluminium glazing systems that utilise modern slim aluminium framing profiles and a combination of true and applied glazing bars to achieve that aesthetic whilst giving clients all the benefits of aluminium glazing.

A variety of door systems can be specified as steel look, including steel look bifold doors, steel look pivot doors and steel look casement doors are all achievable with the addition of glazing bars and by choosing the right frame finish.

The Sieger Legacy Range has been specifically engineered to have a steel look design, utilises modern glazing technology and a polyamide thermal break to achieve high performance levels with ultra-slim frames, also making the systems ideal to replace existing steel glazing.

Steel Look Aluminium Windows

Steel look windows can come in many types and configurations, from a standard casement window to a tilt and turn window system, at IQ there are very few limits when it comes to designing bespoke glazing.

Aluminium steel look windows are often specified for listed and heritage building project, or those trying to achieve a more traditional or industrial style design.

As each of our glazing systems are manufactured completely bespoke, we can combine various framing profiles with different glazing bar designs, all of which have a range of frame finishing options.

This allows the steel look glazing systems to be designed in an industrial style design, art deco designs or more traditional glazing designs. This also means that the systems can be designed to blend in with existing surrounding glazing or made to stand out and become its own design feature.

Pair these elegant metal frames with our premium ironmongery for a luxury glazing design suitable for all types of projects and designs.  As well as steel look aluminium windows and doors, aluminium rooflight systems can also be specified with glazing bars for a steel look design.

Steel Look Internal Glazing

IQ also offer a range of bespoke internal glazing solutions to suit all interior design styles. Many of these can be specified with applied glazing bars to create a steel look internal door of steel look glass partition.

Internal steel look glazing, similarly to steel look external glazing, can be designed in a way to being an elegant touch to traditional interiors or blend in with an industrial style space.

Incorporating steel look aluminium internal glazing into a project as opposed to authentic steel glazing has many benefits, including being lower maintenance, more cost-effective and the lightweight properties of the profiles allows steel look aluminium internal doors to be opened with ease.

One point to note is that for internal fire rated glazing this must be steel or timber to ensure that adequate protection is provided, as the melting temperature of aluminium framing profiles is lower than that of steel and timber framing profiles.

Steel Look Glazing At the Showroom

Located just outside of London is the UK's largest architectural glazing showroom. The IQ Glass showroom has recently undergone a huge renovation to expand the space and display more high performance glazing systems in real life situations.

Among these systems is an aluminium steel look glazing installation with steel look aluminium casement doors, surrounded by slim framed steel look glazing. The IQ showroom is an interactive and immersive experience that allows people to see just what can be achieved with innovative glazing solutions.

If you are travelling to the showroom by car, IQ Glass is situated in Amersham which is easily accessible from the M40, M4, and M25 Motorways. Amersham also has excellent train links into London with the Chiltern line making it from Marylebone to Amersham in just half an hour.

As all of our external glazing systems use a full polyamide thermal break and come with a low e glass coating as standard, our aluminium steel look glazing achieves unparalleled performance levels.

Both the Sieger Legacy Casement Window and Door have full weather testing for air permeability, wind load and water tightness, and

Our systems use a mix of true and applied glazing bars to achieve optimal performance levels without having to compromise on design.

Each system is manufactured bespoke and will come with its own Uw and weather testing values, so for more specific details, get in touch with the IQ team today.

Frame Finish & Glazing Options

One huge advantage of using aluminium framing profiles is the wide variety of finishing options available for the framing. Our profiles can be finished with a polyester powder coating in any RAL colour, and with over 200 colours to choose from plus options such as matt or glossy, the options are endless.

Utilising PPC and grooves, special finishes such as a timber effect design can be achieved. Another less common frame finish for aluminium is anodising.

Our aluminium steel look glazing system can also be specified with a wide range of glazing options including, but not limited to, low maintenance, solar control and low iron glazing.

This allows each system to be manufactured to suit specific design requirements, both performance-wise and in terms of aesthetics.

IQ have a range of bespoke ironmongery, each with its own set of finishing options. For the aluminium steel look doors, most handle options come with a euro cylinder keylock as standard for enhanced security.

There are handle options to suit any exterior or interior design, from contemporary to traditional. Depending on the choice of ironmongery, we have some stunning finishes available such as satin chrome and antique brass.

Sieger Legacy TH+

The outstanding thermal performance and maximum light ingress of the Sieger® Legacy TH+ systems are combined with the classic design of steel framed windows and doors. Each sleek, contemporary-looking, thermally split aluminium profile has a sightline of just 29 mm and provides unmatched thermal insulation.

With the Sieger Legacy TH+ windows and doors have tested Uw values of 0.84W/m2k to 0.91W/m2k which is almost 40% lower than the original Sieger legacy systems. This is due to the framework being fully thermally broken. Having frames with a thermal break means that a non insulating material sits between the external frame and internal frame. This minimises the chance of a "thermal bridge" from forming.

A huge variety of window configurations are available when specifying the TH+ system. This allows for architects to fully design bespoke window systems that will be sure to match any project idea and aesthetic.
