Traditional Windows and modern internal glazing

It may be that you building is listed, or you are building a new property in a conservation areas, or a protected area of outstanding natural beauty. It could be that your clients just prefer classical architecture.

Whatever the reason it is a many designers wishes to use more traditional, timber windows on the external envelope of a building, creating a classic, timeless building.

This externally traditional design does not mean that modern glazing cannot be used throughout the interior of a home.

On a recent project IQ Glass completed with Octagon this design choice was taken. The exterior facades of the new build home, Totteridge Common, are very classical, built in an Italiante style in keeping with the surrounding green belt countryside.

Internally, however, every modern, luxury convenience was included, including a large open plan kitchen, extensively specified with state-of-the art fittings and appliances and leisure facilities include a steam room and changing room, a 14 seat cinema and bar, a stunning wine cellar, gym and games room.

IQ Glass detailed and installed all the modern internal glazing surrounding the luxury pool, spa and gym area, ensuring that the natural light from a large arched window and rear timber bi folds filtered through all rooms.

Frameless pivoting doors allow clear access from the glass stairway to the pool and gym as well as acting as the doors to the steam and spa areas.

Overlooking the pool is the kitchen. The frameless glass installed here was required to have a fire rating to protect exit routes from the leisure facilities. IQ Glass was able to detail these large fire rated glass units to be installed framelessly.
