The recently announced RIBA London Regional Award winners feature IQ Glass in three unique glazing projects.

IQ Glass is thrilled to have three shortlisted glazing projects for RIBA London Awards announced as winners.

Our team worked alongside the architects to achieve ambitious briefs for three very unique commercial glazed projects.

RIBA West London Regional Award 2023

British Academy Of Film & Television Arts Headquarters, St James’s

The refurbishment and new development of the tired grade II listed building included enlarging the entrance, creating a David Lean room featuring the latest technology, new flexible event spaces and a new additional storey with oversized frameless glazing embracing the historic steel structure.

Oversized slim framed sliding doors with minimal sightlines were installed to allow guests to access the patio to enjoy views of the Piccadilly skyline from the new rooftop. The new exquisite rooftop room highlights the historic wrought iron trussed roof lanterns that formed part of the former Institute of Painters in Water Colour constructed in 1883 with an oversized structural glazed rooflight that had to be precision installed 4 storeys high.

The jury were bowled over by Benedetti Architects’ clever design and attention to detail to realise this extraordinary vision for BAFTA.

RIBA London Regional Award 2023

Chart Street Studios, Hackney by Ian Chalk Architects

RIBA London Regional Award winning project, Chart Street features minimal framed sliding glass doors to the balcony and slim framed glass doors and windows to the entrance.

Ian Chalk Architects transformed the former 1930’s factory creating light-filled space for meetings.

The glazing in this stunning retrofit project on the top floor includes minimal framed sliding glass doors to the balcony and slim framed glass doors and windows to the entrance.

The jury praised timber in the top floor extension, preserving and exposing the original features, and achieving thermal mass within the building's fabric.

The large timber framed extension and curved glass facades that open out to the natural surroundings with mature trees connect this grade II listed building in East London, beautifully designed by Studio Weave.

The award-winning Lea Bridge Library project demonstrates how the hub of a community can be thoughtfully designed to create inviting, flexible, open spaces where the community can gather, socialise and learn.

Congratulations to all those shortlisted for the RIBA London regional awards!
