IQ Glass held its Charity Golf Day at The Buckinghamshire Golf Club on Thursday 15th June to raise money for Alzheimer's Society supporting those affected by dementia and their families whose lives are impacted by this incurable illness.
This year, 32 players making up eight teams took to the fairway to compete in the friendly tournament which was sponsored by 25 businesses.
The day started with a wholesome breakfast served in the dining room of the exclusive golf club.
The teams teed off with four teams on the 10th and the other four from the 1st hole.
Each hole branded by its respective sponsor for wayfinding as well as recognition of the generous contribution.
The marketing team loaded up their buggies with golf balls, tees and refreshments following the teams throughout, ensuring that the players were all hydrated, and purchasing as many raffle tickets as possible to beat last year’s £10k target.
The teams also took part in a ‘Beat the Pro’ competition to which each player gifted £5 to swing like a pro. 10 of the players managed to beat the pro, a great effort by all!
Afterwards, everybody congregated in the gardens to enjoy further refreshments with a BBQ fit for a king.
Proceeding the meal, the winners of the tournament were announced. Grants Blinds came first, winning only by one point.
A variety of other awards were won such as ‘Nearest The Pin’ and ‘Worst Shot’, we won't mention who won that one! A few other prizes included best individual, best team name, and of course ‘worst team name’.
The raffle prizes included branded golf wear, Amazon voucher, vintage cognac, crystal glass sets, a brand new putter and more!
The warmth of the afternoon sunshine led to more fun with a putting game on the green.
This year, we surpassed the £10k raising just over an incredible £12k.
Alzheimer's Society Community Fundraiser Georgia Thornton said: “We would like to thank IQ Glass for their incredible fundraising through their Charity Golf Day, raising an impressive £12,000+. A third of us will develop dementia in our lifetimes, making it the biggest health and social care challenge we face.
