Finished Project: Thin Framed Doors and Windows

IQ provided all specialist glazing elements to this residential refurbishment in Hampstead. The penthouse property offers stunning views of the surrounding London landscape and as such IQ Glass was involved to provide thin-framed doors and windows to all available surfaces.

As the access to the small roof terrace IQ Glass’s minimal windows, a slim aluminium framed sliding door system, were used with a configuration of one fixed panel and one sliding. With a thin vertical framing sightline of only 21mm these doors allowed in the maximum amount of natural light to the living and working space.

The surrounding windows are bespoke designed and detailed by the IQ glass design team. Here, at this high level, contemporary aluminium windows were wanted for the design whilst attempting to maintain the minimal sightlines of the minimal framed sliding doors. IQ engineered our exclusive minimal windows sliding doors with fixed structural units to create thin-framed, sliding windows to the full surround of the penthouse property.

The glass of the fixed structural units was stepped and bonded onto the external face of the specially engineered sliding door profile to create a flush external look. Internally the minimal windows profiles created a contemporary aluminium window solution that slides effortlessly open to allow natural ventilation on all surrounds of the penthouse.

On higher placed windows this solution can be used with integrated automation so the thin-framed sliding windows can be mechanically slid open for ventilation at the push of a button to maintain comfort levels in the living/working space.
