“A great space dominated by the view”

Amazing Spaces with George Clark this week featured the modern equivalent of a ‘Beach Hut’ in the form of two modern beach houses created down on Camber Sands.

The ‘Amazing Spaces’ were two cottages built right on the beach and each hut included a symmetrical full elevation of glazing from IQ Glass.

Large format Slim Framed Sliding Glass Doors were used on both ground floors, creating a full wall of glazing with minimal interruptions to the fantastic beach front view.

Will Harde commented on entering the home:

“The first thing that greats you is a wall of glass and a seamless view out to the beach and sea”

That was certainly the intention of the architects and the reason that IQ’s slim framed minimal windows were chosen for this impressive beach front project.

Many frameless rooflights were peppered across the sloping roofs with a frameless structural glass up and over rooflight over the internal staircase bringing light through this change in level.

On the upper floor the house includes 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom has been specially placed at the rear of the house overlooking the sea with another wall of glass filling in the gable end. Minimal windows sliding glass doors and frameless structural side lights create the minimally framed glass wall to the bedroom.

The private balcony to the bedroom is ended with a frameless glass balustrade allowing the home owners to “wake up and look straight out onto the sea”.

The house was described as a “great space dominated by the view” which certainly wouldn’t have been possible without the use of slim framed glazing from IQ Glass.
