The Belsize Reading Room Featured

The Belsize Reading Room featured in the June 2018 edition of i-Build Magazine in an article that showcased the design of the ‘urban sanctuary’. The Architects, Studio Carver, designed this smart extension for a retired couple to create an elegant reading room within their home for study and reading. 

The magazine article titled ‘A reflective reading room’ discussed this project in depth and featured an interview with the homeowners. The owners of the property commissioned Studio Carver on this project as they wanted to create a space to relax, work and read while still feeling a connection to the home and garden. A large frameless window was installed looking out upon the garden, to allow them to indulge in beautiful views while inside their new reading room.

Wooden cladding was used alongside the large glazing installation to help merge the external façade with the garden. The cladding was extended along the flower beds, adjacent to the large window, which gave the illusion that the internal space was protruding out into the garden.
