Homes & Interiors Scotland Features Expansive Renovation Project

See how our minimal glazing systems transformed the Grade B listed home.

One of our completed projects was featured in Homes & Interiors Scotland, showcasing the vast transformation from an abandoned garden plot to a contemporary home. The site formerly belonged to the National Trust of Scotland and the original house sits on a slope, maintaining a low slung appearance that blends into its scenic surroundings.

Due to the historic nature of the property, much of the original structure was preserved, such as the timber cladding on the external face of the building which has been stripped and re-oiled. Due to the low slung structure, the property was formerly lacking natural light. the homeowners specified slim framed aluminium systems in conjunction with frameless clerestory windows throughout the open plan living place, to allow as much natural light in as possible.

The slim framed sliding doors allow the picturesque views of the beautiful gardens to be enjoyed, whilst offering the option for indoor and outdoor areas to be merged during the warmer months. Complete with a flush threshold, the transition between spaces if effortless and the style is able to follow a biophilic design thanks to the preserved garden.

The stripped-back, white interior design follows a minimalistic approach, whilst the external design blends effortlessly into the green landscape. Inside the home, frameless clerestory windows were specified to ensure the home would be brightly lit, despite the low slung design.
