The July issue of Grand Designs had a feature surrounding glazing choices in kitchens, exploring the various options and advantages of different window and door systems. A number of IQ Glass products were featured, including bifolding doors and slim framed pivot doors.

The main advantage to bifolding doors, as highlighted in the article, is the ability to gain a completely open aperture when the doors are stacked to one side. This allows homeowners to completely merge indoor and outdoor areas, thanks to the flush threshold detail, to create one large indoor outdoor area when the weather permits. Bifolding door systems can be specified in a floor to ceiling configuration to maximise the amount of glass, natural light and views.

Slim framed pivot doors are another popular choice for kitchen designs, as the article recognises. The high glass to frame ratio makes them perfect for creating well lit, airy spaces and the bespoke hinged mechanism is only revealed when the door is opened. Siding doors can also be specified in a pocket door configuration, to slide into hidden wall cavities for a completely open doorway.
