Intelligent Glass Solutions have featured a technical advice article from IQ Glass, discussing how to control solar gain and eliminate the risk of overheating in highly glazed spaces. The online publication has branded the material ‘hot topics in glass research’ and hopes to banish the myth of glass extensions overheating in the warmer months.
Showcasing a number of our leading technical glazing solutions, the article details the importance of glass specification. When specifying glass from IQ, the technical advisors will look at which direction the glazing is facing, amongst other factors, to determine whether extra measures should be taken to prevent solar gain.
In the event of a south facing installation, IQ recommend solar control glass for any glazed elements. Solar control glass can be incorporated in every one of our products or systems, reducing the amount of solar radiation that can enter a space to reduce the overall solar gain.
The article explored other methods of solar control, such as external shading solutions. The Louvre roof system, available from IQ, uses high quality aluminium louvres to offer adjustable shading options. The system can be specified as free standing or fixed to the side elevation of a building.
