Contemporary Replacement Dwelling Sand Dunes features in Times Magazine

Luxury family home in Morgan Porth

The Sand Dunes project by ARCO2 Architecture Ltd the ultimate Cornish retreat, recently highlighted in The Times magazine is an impressive sustainable contemporary replacement dwelling on the coast of Mawgan Porth, Cornwall. Designed as a spacious family home, Sand Dunes is celebrated for its seamless integration into the natural landscape and its commitment to sustainable architecture.

The property consists of three interconnected buildings the main family home, a guest annex, and a pool house, each thoughtfully oriented to maximise natural light and provide panoramic views of the beach and surrounding dunes. Constructed using locally sourced materials, Sand Dunes incorporates reclaimed Cornish slate and stone, as well as timber cladding that echoes traditional Cornish architectural aesthetics while maintaining a contemporary design.

IQ Glass worked with architects Arco2 on this project where slim frame glass sliding doors were the key design feature to the contemporary replacement dwelling. The large elevations of minimally framed doors enhance the indoor outdoor living experience, providing large light filled open-plan living areas for this breathtaking  coastal property. As well as sliding doors the property features frameless glass balustrades, aluminium casement doors, and aluminium windows.

The design of Sand Dunes balances luxury and sustainability, showcasing Arco2's commitment to eco-friendly architecture. This property won several awards, including recognition from the RIBA South West awards, Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Awards, for its innovative architecture that combines modern aesthetics with energy-efficient features.
