RIBA award winning glazing project

Oatlands Close Featured

The multi-award winning project, Oatlands Close, featured in Build It November 2018 within a feature that discussed how to extend homes into the garden and build a stronger connection to each environment.

SOUP Architects designed this impressive renovation project in Surrey. The 'revamp' aimed to provide the homeowners with an 'inside-outside feel, as their existing dwelling had a poor connection to the large underused garden'.

This project has won the RIBA South East Small Project Award, the RIBA South East Awards 2018 and the RIBA House of the Year 2018 award.

This feature talks about how the architects designed a new master bedroom to the top floor of the extension which was set back slightly to offer privacy from below. "The Architects chose a simple material palette, using grey bricks to clad the walls both internally and externally". The roofing material had a green tinge which was purposely specified with the aim to create a connection between the building and newly landscaped garden.
