For homes with extensive south-facing glazing, solar control glass is frequently one of the most effective measures for reducing summertime overheating.

Combined with external shading, natural ventilation and appropriate building orientation, high-performance glazing can create comfortable internal environments even during periods of intense solar exposure.

Choosing the Right Frame Colour

For most residential glazing projects, frame colour should be selected primarily on architectural and design considerations rather than thermal concerns.

Contemporary homes often favour darker finishes such as:

Frame colour does influence how much heat an aluminium frame absorbs from direct sunlight. Darker finishes can reach higher surface temperatures and may experience greater thermal expansion than lighter colours.

However, when it comes to the overall performance of a glazing system, frame colour plays a relatively minor role.
