Speckled Wood Shortlisted for Build It Awards 2026

IQ Glass is pleased to announce that Speckled Wood, designed by Joseph Bamber Design, has been shortlisted for Best Architect or Designer for a Self Build Project at the Build It Awards 2026.

Located in the Lake District National Park, Speckled Wood is a contemporary family home embedded into a steep limestone hillside. The architecture responds sensitively to the surrounding landscape through a considered palette of limestone, slate and charred timber.

IQ Glass designed, supplied and installed the architectural glazing package, including slim sliding glass doors, aluminium windows, a glazed entrance link and a bespoke pivot entrance door. Large glazed openings introduce natural light throughout the property and frame views across the surrounding Lake District landscape.

Designed using Passive House principles, the environmentally conscious home combines high performance construction with carefully considered architectural detailing.

We congratulate Joseph Bamber Design and everyone involved in delivering the project and wish the team every success at the Build It Awards.
