Two exemplary country houses boasting far reaching views of the South Downs through ultra slim sliding glass doors

Field House & Bury Gate Farm make the shortlist for the RIBA South East 2025 Awards

The RIBA has announced its 2025 South East 2025 Awards shortlist with two of IQ’s exemplary country house projects standing as strong contenders for the UK’s most prestigious architectural accolades. 

Field House by Wilkinson Architects made of stone, timber and frameless glass takes full advantage of the sweeping views of the landscape in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) through floor to ceiling ultra slim sliding glass doors connecting its occupants with nature seamlessly.  

This nature inspired Sussex country house arranged over two floors has a continuous ribbon of full height ultra slim framed glazing maximising views while the solar control coatings elevations reduce overheating during the warmer months.  

 Bury Gate Farm by Sandy Rendel Architects is a modern interpretation of a luxury country house also boasting far-reaching views of the South Downs National Park through oversized ultra slim triple glazed sliding glass doors and windows.  

 The oversized high-performance glazing systems allow its occupants to be totally immersed into the verdant green landscape while being cocooned by the triple glazed systems which were tested to withstand high wind loads. 

Both designs ooze elegance and thoughtfully respond to today’s challenging climate. 

The RIBA South East Awards winning projects will be announced later this spring.
