The Grainhouse project has been proudly shortlisted for the prestigious AJ Architecture Awards 2024. The AJ Architecture Awards celebrate the best in UK architecture, rewarding projects that demonstrate design excellence, innovation, and a positive contribution to the built environment. 

Recognised for its exceptional approach to adaptive reuse, sustainability, and design innovation, Grainhouse represents a fusion of industrial heritage with contemporary functionality. This award nomination highlights the project’s success in transforming an old grain warehouse into a dynamic, multifunctional urban space while preserving its historical essence. 

The site on Drury Lane, Covent Garden presented significant logistical challenges for a total retrofit. In particular, the glazing elements which include bespoke structural glass facade curtain walling, entrance doors, commercial doors, lift and slide doors, Internal steel fire-rated glass doors and screens, external fire-rated curtain walling, plus steel and steel-look external openable windows with lockable handles for maintenance and cleaning.    

The Grainhouse project’s recognition by the AJ Architecture Awards 2024 is a testament to the power of architecture to transform, preserve, and innovate.
