Bury Gate Farm Shortlisted for Manser Medal

Bury Gate Farm- Shortlisted for Manser Medal

Bury Gate Farm, an impressive example of modern architecture, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Manser Medal. The award presented by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), recognises the very best in innovative design and craftsmanship in private homes across the UK. This nomination not only highlights the farm’s architectural brilliance but also underscores the growing trend of sustainable and innovative residential design in rural settings. Designed by Sandy Rendel Design, Bury Gate Farm Marries old with the new. The property sits on the site of a former agricultural building, with much of its design inspired by the rural landscape and traditional farm structures. The architects created a home that was both sympathetic to its natural surroundings while offering all the comforts and innovations of modern living.

Situated in the tranquil countryside of West Sussex, this extraordinary development blends cutting edge design with traditional elements, offering a luxurious yet sustainable living space. The project’s seamless integration of nature and modernity has gained significant attention, showcasing IQ Glass's expertise in creating visually stunning and functional homes.

The design of Bury Gate Farm with it’s scenic location, offers expansive views of the natural landscape. This connection to the outdoors is achieved through the use of large sliding glass doors which open directly onto the patios and outdoor spaces, allowing residents to enjoy uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside.  The oversized wide sliding glass doors to the ground floor span an aperture of 4.7m across and are mirrored by oversized frameless casement windows to the first floor creating a double-height hall at the centre of the bespoke home in the South Downs.

IQ Glass’s minimal frame glazing systems ensure that the glass elements do not detract from the natural beauty of the setting.

Bury Gate Farm designed Sandy Rendel Architects, was an ambitious design for a bespoke replacement home of a 1950’s bungalow in the South Downs, with an expansive luxury bespoke glazing package. This took a year in planning, and five to complete.
