Rear Contemporary Extension Using Aluminium Bi Fold Doors

A small contemporary extension and renovation featuring aluminium bifold doors and frameless rooflights maximises the amount of natural light in the kitchen. The rear kitchen and living extension of the family home in London completely transforms this traditional London home.

By adding the rear extension with slim aluminium bifold doors to this traditional property a light-filled kitchen and dining space has been created instead of the previously cramped kitchen without any dining space. The family now have a large, open plan kitchen and living space more suited to their modern lifestyles.

Side infill extensions such as this are a popular residential extension type, especially in cramped cities such as London. By adding a relevantly small amount of floor space to the home the family were able to knock down walls and create an open and light-filled new living space.

Aluminium bifold doors work perfectly in this smaller opening, extending the inside living spaces. The three-panel bifold door installation slides and folds back away opening almost the entire rear aperture. When closed these aluminium bifold doors have a minimal sightline of only 120mm and has been installed with a flush threshold for an easier transition between the internal and external living spaces.

Frameless Rooflights were added to the contemporary extension for a controlled influx of light with a solar control coating to reduce the effect of overheating and the extension just benefits from the natural light achieved with the aluminium bifold doors and frameless glass rooflights.
