The Lake House

Architectural glazing package creates lakefront new build in Gloucestershire

IQ Glass worked with ANA Architecture + Design Ltd to create this beautiful lakefront new build in the heart of the Cotswolds, located on a rural luxury estate in the Gloucestershire countryside.

The architectural glazing package in the Cotswolds retreat was provided by IQ who worked closely with the architects to design solutions that enhanced the stunning surroundings.

The architectural glazing package in the Cotswolds included a number of bespoke engineered solutions including oversized sliding glass doors that have been used to forge a strong connection to the surrounding nature.

The lakefront new build was designed with a timber façade, using black timber cladding to contrast the oversized glazing and allow the expensive new build to blend into its surroundings. The architectural glazing package in the Cotswolds was designed in line with the black timber cladding, with timber elements being brought over the aluminium profiles in places to create the most minimal detailing.

The slim framed sliding glass doors were specified with insect screens which are concealed within the side frame when not in use and can be clipped onto the handle for use, enhancing the functionality of the doors. The use of sliding doors with insect screens means the homeowners have flexibility when considering ventilation, without having to worry about the insects associated with the waterfront location.

Slim framed aluminium glazing solutions were all specified with a marine grade finish, ensuring the glazing is durable and long lasting in the lakeside conditions. The powder coating was specified in RAL 9005, jet black, to match the blackened timber design and blend in with the surrounding façade design. An Apertio Solid high security entrance door was utilised to grant access to the home, offering unrivalled performance values and minimal, modern design.

In line with the minimal architectural design, the architectural glazing package in the Cotswolds included a number of slim framed aluminium windows. Each of the windows was installed in a top hung configuration with a fixed pane underneath, allowing even more natural light into the internal living space and maintaining the highly glazed new build design.

Glass casement doors were installed at various points throughout the property to maintain a coherent design across all glazed elements and glass balustrades were utilised on the upper floors to create private balcony areas and minimal Juliet balconies with the sliding glass doors.

The resulting highly glazed new build is complete with a flat black timber roof, providing a slight overhang for built in solar shading and to maintain the minimal design. The team are on hand to discuss any project requirements in the Cotswolds, Midlands and surrounding areas.
