Strand Court Salcombe

Slim Frame Sliding Glass Doors Capture Views of the Harbour

A major renovation project transformed this large waterfront apartment into a modern open plan home in Salcombe, Devon. Minimal frames were desired in order to take advantage of the picturesque views of the small fishing harbour.

Slim frame sliding glass doors and specialist heated glass were used to create a modern ground floor apartment. The contemporary renovation consisted of automated and manual slim frame sliding glass doors providing panoramic views of the harbour.

Minimally framed sliding glass doors were used to wrap around the apartment creating a minimal transition between the interior living spaces and the exterior decked area beside the harbour. The full height sliding glass doors capture the natural light, creating bright open plan living areas.

With a slim sightline of 21mm the internal and external living areas merge seamlessly creating a perfect indoor-outdoor living experience.

The master bedroom features minimally framed sliding glass doors with two panels bi-parting over two fixed. For the added comfort and luxury, the clients opted for heated glazing within the sliding glass doors as the sole heat source to the master bedroom.

Automation to an elevation of slim framed sliding glass doors was added purely for practicality. Furniture can be placed in front of the elevation and the doors can still be opened for ventilation.

The slim frame sliding glass doors were finished in a very light grey. The minimalistic design desired by the client was achieved as well as maximising the views of the harbour.

Light-filled living spaces can now be enjoyed flowing seamlessly out onto the outside seating and dining space to entertain family and friends.
