Mill Hill

Gothic Inspired Frameless Glass Conservatory

A stunning, bespoke frameless glass conservatory was designed and installed by IQ Glass to a grade II listed property. The homeowners wanted to add a new light-filled living space to their Victorian Gothic house in Mill Hill whilst also completely renovating the interior of the home.

Location

Mill Hill, Barnes, London

IQ Glass was commissioned to design, fabricate and install a gothic inspired frameless glass conservatory to replace the obtrusive plastic construction on the side of the home. The unique peaked glass roof design mimics the design of traditional gothic architectural roofs whilst allowing light to flow in unobstructed.

Not the usual design style for IQ Glass, however, the contemporary frameless design works well in achieving the gothic aesthetics desired. The colossal renovation project involved the refurbishment of the whole house and garden, the demolition and replacement of the conservatory with this bespoke glass box, a new studio garage and a two-story side extension.

Frameless structural glazing creates a very complex glass extension design with high pointed roof sections to keep a cohesive design with the property’s original features. The structural glass is supported with slim steel junctions enabling the impressive and very creative design. The glass conservatory creates the perfect garden room to admire the seasons changing throughout the year.

Innovare doors maintain the sleek, flush glazed external appearance that the structural glazing achieves that created the frameless glass conservatory. The modern patio double door provides primary access to the landscaped garden but still maintains the slim framing required for a consistent design for the glass extension.

The homeowners now have a new functional living space to relax in and enjoy the sun on their faces. This space can also be utilised to be close to nature come wind, rain or shine.

Whilst the glazing on this project could also be considered a glass box extension, as the new space is completely separate from the home in terms of heating, separated by insulated glass walls and double glazed patio doors it is technically a conservatory.
