A Contemporary Extension maximising Light Ingress with an Eaves Window

IQ Glass installed an eaves window, a frameless window and aluminium bi fold doors onto this contemporary rear extension in London.

The small eaves window was installed to allow vertical light to ingress into the living space. This window was designed with a vertical and horizontal glass panel which were connected with a silicone seal, providing no visible framing. This slim silicone seal acts as a weather seal and hides all fixings externally and internally. This eaves window was installed further into the contemporary rear extension to provide natural light into the originally dull space due to the lack of windows.

A set of aluminium bi fold doors were installed onto the rear extension with a fixed window to allow natural light to pass through from both directions. These doors were designed with an anodised silver finish, matching with the external cladding surrounding the new extension.

Installing aluminium bi fold doors onto this contemporary extension allows the homeowners to open up the external wall completely, providing easy access between the internal and external living spaces for the family. This then creates the perfect indoor-outdoor living experience by merging the internal space with the large garden.

The frameless window was installed above the sink in the new kitchen with a frameless finish both internally and externally to allow natural light intake and views of the garden from indoors with no framing obstruction.

The structural glass elements manufactured and installed by IQ on this contemporary rear extension bring in an abundance of natural light at all angles, with the minimal framing and detailing giving uninterrupted views.
