The Bake-Off at IQ saw a range of bakes, from Roald Dahl cookies through to a large cactus cake. All the bakes were displayed in the IQ Glass Box Extension where the tasting and judging took place. The IQ staff showed off their creativity this year and impressed all with their highly decorative cake designs. The architectural glass showroom was the perfect location to display these baked goods as the glazing was beautifully lit by the light passing through the glazing.
We saw some incredible tower cakes, including a drip cake and an Oreo cake within the display of Bake Off cakes. There’s no doubt that the IQ bakers who took part in the IQ Great British Bake Off went over and beyond to take part in this marvellous event and help raise money for the Roald Dahl Charity.
After testing all the bakes, the first, second and third prize winners were announced! Our expert judging panel decided who should win Bake Off 2019. It was difficult to choose the winner from all these fantastic baked entries, however, we managed to come to a conclusion. The third place went to Ana’s marvellous Roald Dahl’s cookies, these were beautifully decorated to represent various Roald Dahl characters including the BFG. For her outstanding efforts, Ana received a collection of Roald Dahl books which was kindly donated to us by the team at The Roald Dahl Museum in Amersham.
The person who won second place was Harry who made the incredible drip cake. In return for his beautifully baked cake, he was awarded a Roald Dahl Golden Ticket for the Roald Dahl Museum in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. First prize went to Emily, who baked and beautifully decorated a large cactus cake! The cake was designed with various 3D icing cacti. For winning #Bakeoff2019 Emily was awarded a gift voucher for Jacs café in Amersham. This prize was generously donated by Jacs café for the Bake Off 2019 Winner.
