Slim sightlines versus thermal performance

 Despite the slender sightline of the frames, Minimal Windows achieves a standard overall Uw factor of 1.2 W/m2K.  There is no compromise won narrow sightlines for thermal performance

As leading specialists in ultra slim sliding glass windows and doors, we recognise that the sleek minimal aesthetic draws interest as well the precision engineered minimal profile glass. 

In the past, it may have been the case that in order to achieve these slim aesthetics thermal performance would have to be compromised by removing sections of thermally insulating framework.

With advances in thermal break technology and engineering, this is no longer the case.

IQ’s Minimal Windows has a narrow vertical junction of only 21mm and is thought of as the first choice of slim framed sliding doors systems for architects and designers. Even with this slender sightline, Minimal Windows can achieve a standard overall Uw factor of 1.2 W/m2K, reducing to less than 1.0 when using a higher thermal performance glass panel such as Super Insulating Glass, becoming the best thermally performing minimal framed sliding door available in the UK.

Mondrian® Windows are designed to replace old fashioned engineering such as Crittle and have a small steel framing of 50mm on the opening panel. But with advances in thermal break design and Ug glass factors, this windows system can now achieve a Uw value of 1.6 W/m2K, in line with all building regulations and most thermal targets.

Even IQ’s latest aluminium framing sections for opening casement doors and windows can achieve slim sightlines of as little as 40mm whilst still achieving the requisite 1.6 W/m2K for thermal performance.
