Rhodes House Shortlisted for the AJ Architecture Awards 2024 – Heritage Project

We are proud to announce that Rhodes House, designed by Stanton Williams and featuring bespoke glazing solutions from IQ Projects, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Heritage Project category at the AJ Architecture Awards 2024. 

This project carefully integrates modern architectural glazing into the historic fabric of the Grade II listed Rhodes House, at the University of Oxford. The new design includes a striking glass pavilion with oversized, 5-meter-tall structural glass panels that create uninterrupted 360-degree views of the surrounding gardens. These glass units, installed with precision using special crane equipment to protect the historic site, also play a key structural role by supporting the curved timber roof. 

Working closely with Stanton Williams, IQ Projects overcame the unique challenges of the site, ensuring the glazing was not only beautiful but also met stringent performance and heritage regulations. This pavilion now serves as a tranquil space for scholars and visitors.
