Blackheath House featured in an article 'celebrating the beauty of wood'. This project was shortlisted in the Wood Awards for the outstanding use of a wide variety of wood species.
The feature talks about how wood was used both externally and internally to connect the property further with the surrounding rural landscape. This single-storey home was coated in 10-metre-long English Oak boards to emphasise the buildings horizontal aspect, "timber was selected for its structural, environmental and tactile qualities".
Various elements of the interior design were manufactured from wood, including in the kitchen "black-sprayed timber joinery provides a strong but elegant backdrop to the oak kitchen island." This heavily wooden design is emphasised by the large structural glazing installations that offer a simplistic aesthetic that do not deter from the elegant wooden features.
