Refurbishment & Restore Features Bourneside Farm

Issue 27 of Refurbishment & Restore magazine featured a case study of one of IQ Glass’ recent projects, a contemporary extension for an outdoor pool area. The design of the extension combines modern and traditional architectural elements, using warm wood beams to contrast the slim aluminium framed glazing systems.

On one elevation, oversized sliding glass door systems are used to create entire walls of moving glass that stretch from floor to ceiling, allowing the homeowners to enjoy poolside views even when the doors are closed. On the other elevation, slim framed bifold doors stack neatly to one side to reveal a completely open aperture.

Each door system is specified with a flush threshold detail to make the transition from inside to outside seamless, merging the two environments when the doors are open. The new living space is flooded with natural light throughout the day thanks to the high glass to frame ratio and the extension creates an indoor-outdoor style of living.
