Extending homes has evolved way beyond building brick extensions for additional living spaces for expanding families, they are now available in a wide choice of styles from steel framed and highly glazed sunrooms and glass box extensions. IQ Glass was mentioned in an article within Homebuilding and Renovating magazine which discussed the types of extensions available and the technical glass solutions that can be integrated within the design.

When building highly glazed extensions we are all looking to create a strong connection to the outdoor environment and allow the sun to penetrate into the home. South facing glazed extensions allow an abundance of light into the property however there is a concern that this level of exposure can cause overheating within the property, “locating a sunroom on the southern elevation allows for the space to make the most of the light”.

IQ Glass were mentioned within this feature as they provide a solution for control solar radiation. Tan Yasin from IQ Glass said, “A solar control coating can reduce solar gain while creating a comfortable internal environment”. Solar control glass coatings help to reflect the rays of the sun off the glass to reduce the amount of heat from the suns rays that can pass through into the internal living spaces.
