This single storey home was built with sustainable building materials that complemented the surrounding landscape. The palette of materials used included weathered steel cladding, natural brick and stone, locally sourced materials and slim framed aluminium glazing.
The central pavilion was designed and built with an open plan kitchen, dining and living area with a large south-facing terrace to enjoy the warm weather. Tall sliding doors created a corner opening configuration, providing direct access between the internal and external spaces. The slim framed sliding door systems added massive amounts of natural light in the open plan area and generated stunning, uninterrupted landscape views all year round.
Sliding glass door systems were paired with frameless structural glass above and in different parts of the house. Therefore, natural light is able to flood every corner of the house from different angles. The high thermal performance architectural glass creates comfortable living temperatures to enjoy the house even during the cold seasons.
Architectural glazing specialist IQ Glass designed and installed the frameless structural glass and the corner opening sliding glass doors. IQ Glass manufactures bespoke unusual shaped architectural and structural glazing systems for residential projects. All systems use high-quality materials and are fully thermally broken to ensure they provide comfortable internal living temperatures all year round.
